KEI SHIGENAGA
Kei Shigenaga is a Japanese designer who spent seven years in America while working as a silversmith in New York. Afterward, she returned to Japan to re-examine her own culture from the perspective of contemporary jewelry design. In 2015, Shigenaga teamed up with creative director Wataru Shimosato and launched the brand Kei Shigenaga, named after the designer. Based in Tokyo, Kei Shigenaga's jewelry is handcrafted in their atelier using the finest materials. The one-of-a-kind sterling silver rings and bracelets feature carvings, polishing, and sometimes 18k gold details, reflecting Kei Shigenaga's desire to bring out and highlight the inherent beauty of the materials. Focusing on craftsmanship, Shigenaga returns to a time-consuming production process to create small works of art perfect for everyday wear, which move with the wearer's body. Each piece of jewelry is delicate yet simple, and the designer's creative talent is fully demonstrated in the tension born from these contrasting elements.
